Electric car running cost
Efficiency is wall-to-wheel, so charging losses are already in the kWh figure. The public price and the gas price are examples. Replace them with the prices where you charge and fill up.

Chevrolet Equinox EV charging cost by trim
| Trim | kWh per 100 mi | EPA range | Cents per mile | 1,000 miles | 240 V charge |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FWD | 31.1 | 319 mi | 5.4 | $54 | 9.5 h |
| AWD, 11 kW charger | 32.6 | 307 mi | 5.6 | $56 | 9.5 h |
| AWD, 19 kW charger | 35.1 | 288 mi | 6.1 | $61 | 5.9 h |
Source: U.S. EPA and DOE, fueleconomy.gov, model year 2026, checked October 10, 2026. The highlighted trim is the one used for the headline figures. Prices: 17.23 cents per kWh, the 2025 US residential average from EIA Form EIA-861. The least efficient trim uses about 13 percent more electricity per mile than the most efficient.
About the Chevrolet Equinox EV and its energy use
The Equinox EV is a compact SUV. EPA lists the front-wheel-drive version at about 31.1 kWh per 100 miles with a range of 319 miles, and the AWD versions use more and go a little less far.
The AWD version with the 19 kW onboard charger has the shortest EPA time to charge from empty on a 240 volt connection, 5.9 hours, against 9.5 hours for the others. That charger only helps on a home or public charger that can supply that much power.
What it costs in other states

| Idaho | 11.83 | 3.7 | $37 |
| Nebraska | 12.05 | 3.7 | $37 |

If you use public fast chargers
Public fast charging prices are set by each network and change with the place and the time. Check the price on the charger or in the app. This table shows what the Chevrolet Equinox EV would cost per mile at four example prices, compared with charging at home at the US average.
| Price per kWh | Cents per mile | 1,000 miles | Versus home at US average |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0.30 | 9.3 | $93 | 1.7 times |
| $0.45 | 14.0 | $140 | 2.6 times |
| $0.60 | 18.6 | $186 | 3.5 times |
| $0.75 | 23.3 | $233 | 4.4 times |

Break-even gas price
| Where you charge | 25 mpg car | 30 mpg car | 35 mpg car | 40 mpg car |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| North Dakota price | $0.92 a gallon | $1.10 a gallon | $1.29 a gallon | $1.47 a gallon |
| US average price | $1.34 a gallon | $1.61 a gallon | $1.87 a gallon | $2.14 a gallon |
| Hawaii price | $3.14 a gallon | $3.77 a gallon | $4.39 a gallon | $5.02 a gallon |
If gas where you live costs more than the figure in the table, charging at home costs less per mile than driving a gas car with that fuel economy. If gas costs less, the gas car is cheaper per mile on fuel alone.
How we calculate it
Cost per mile is the EPA kWh per 100 miles, divided by 100, times the price per kWh. EPA measures efficiency at the wall, so charging losses are already inside the figure. Real efficiency changes with speed, temperature, tires and load, so use the EV charging cost calculator with your own numbers.
Chevrolet Equinox EV charging cost questions
How much does it cost to charge a Chevrolet Equinox EV?
The FWD uses about 31.1 kWh per 100 miles, so 1,000 miles uses about 311 kWh. Multiply by your price per kWh, or use the tables on this page.
Does the faster onboard charger change what it costs?
It changes how long charging takes, not the price per kWh. The AWD with the 19 kW charger also uses more energy per mile in the EPA data, about 35.1 kWh per 100 miles.
How much does it cost to drive Chevrolet Equinox EV 100 miles?
At about 31.1 kWh per 100 miles and the 2025 US average price of 17.23 cents per kWh, 100 miles costs about $5.36 when you charge at home.
How much does a full charge cost for Chevrolet Equinox EV?
Driving the full EPA range of 319 miles takes about 99 kWh from the wall for the FWD trim, which costs about $17 at the 2025 US average price. You rarely charge from empty, so most sessions cost much less.
