We list a correction when it changes a number, a ranking, a source or the meaning of a sentence. Typos and layout fixes are not listed.
What counts as a correction
- A number that does not match its source, or a figure that was built with the wrong formula.
- A ranking that changed because of a data error.
- A rule or a program described as current when it had changed.
- A sentence that a reasonable reader would take to mean something false.
- A missing or wrong source note.
What we do after a correction
We fix the page, write the entry in the log, and re-read the rest of the page and its sister pages for the same mistake. A state error, for example, sends us back through every state page built from the same table. We update a page's review date only after a person has read and edited it.
How to report a mistake
Send the page address and what looks wrong to hello@kilowattatlas.com. If you can, point to the source you think is right. We usually reply within a week.
See the contact page for what else we can help with.
Our rules for corrections
- We fix an error as soon as we confirm it.
- We keep the old value in the log so the change is visible.
- We do not edit a page quietly to make an error disappear.
